Description
This Jamaican rum has been continentally aged for its entire life and is very elegant. Is it on a level with dogs riding the London Underground in suits and bowler hats reading broadsheets? Perhaps. Is it delicious and rare? Definitely.
Also - it’s more far fetched to believe there would be that many spare seats on the tube than it is to believe dogs dressed as people would be riding it.
This pale golden rum hails from the long lost Monymusk distillery. After 13 years of continental maturation, this batch defies convention that darker the rum, means the better the taste. Sweet, savoury and a hint of spice too, you'll notice a punchy orange zest, a toastiness from the cask and a pineapple-led finish.
Tasting notes
Nose: Apricot and pineapple with cardamon spice, apple pie and tortilla chips, a suggestion of pipe tobacco and a savoury salt dough.
Palate: The palate opens with much sweeter spice, before the classic pot still rum cooked pineapple comes through. There’s orange zest, vanilla pods and a toastiness from the cask, too.
Finish: Rich and pineapple-led.
